The Objectives of the Club are to provide a congenial monthly lunch meeting where members can enjoy each other’s company, develop friendships and listen to interesting and entertaining speakers. In addition, we should run enjoyable functions and outings to locations and venues appealing to the widest possible interests of members and their wives. I personally feel that the involvement of wives is particularly important and can add to the enjoyment of members in creating a friendly atmosphere.
2026 Chairman
Peter Enser
The great majority of Peter’s career was spent in Higher Education, where his teaching and academic management responsibilities were developed alongside research interests in experimental information retrieval. His publications and presentations in the field of semantic image retrieval regularly placed him before international audiences drawn from the cultural heritage and computer science research communities.
Peter is a past-President of the former Institute of Information Scientists and has had a significant involvement with other professional bodies within the United Kingdom.
The title Professor of Information Science was conferred on him by the University of Brighton, and the title Professor Emeritus upon his retirement.
Since retirement Peter has enjoyed exploring with general interest audiences – both within local societies and on board cruise ships - the ways in which society, and our communications within it, has been transformed by advances in technology.
Peter lives in Sheffield Park with wife Pam; their son Chris runs his personal training studio close by, and daughter Cathie owns a pharmacy business with her pharmacist husband in South Wales.
